Overview

Descend 600 meters into the ancient caldera of Ngorongoro Crater, often called “Africa’s Eden” for its unparalleled concentration of wildlife. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers one of the most spectacular game viewing experiences in Africa, all within a single day. The crater floor hosts an estimated 30,000 animals, including the highest density of lions in Africa and some of the last remaining black rhinos. Vast herds of wildebeest and zebra roam the plains, while hippos wallow in the freshwater pools. The crater’s compact size ensures you won’t miss any of the Big Five during your day visit.

Tour Plan

Day Activities

You'll be picked up at 5 am from your hotel and drive to Ngorongoro Crater with your packed breakfast. The drive takes 4 hours. This stunning place will offer you almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino and if we are lucky, we might spot one. Measuring an area of 260 square kilometers and extending about 20km in diameter, you will need probably 5 to 6 hours to explore it. You will then head back to Arusha. You can expect to be back in town around 6 pm.

You will enjoy your hot lunch at the Ngoitoktok Picnic area with a hippo pool.
